Harold's: A good way to induce labor?
While in Chicago recently, I spoke with two women who had each heard of other women using Harold's Chicken to induce labor on their pregnancies which had gone past their term. Both of these women had heard that Harold's was good for that and had recommended it to friends of theirs, and it never failed: The past due moms went into labor shortly thereafter.Anybody else heard of that before?

I've never heard that before but I may have lived it. September 24, 1983. I was a good 40 weeks pregnant with my second child. Had a hankering for Harold's--white half with hot sauce. My husband, little daughter, and I picked up our dinner at the Harold's on the corner of 53rd and Kenwood. Can still remember walking to the car with the moist, hot bags of chicken, catching a reflection of myself in a shop window and being shocked, yet again, by my ludicrous silhouette. We went home, ate the delicious treat, burnished, crispy, salty, and greasy on the outside; pure, tender, steamy, and white on the inside. Watched Dallas at 9, or was it Falcon Crest?, went to the hospital and gave birth the next morning at 2:30. Easy as pie, or . . .
Baby turned out GREAT.
